Skin Pores
Pores are small openings on the skin through which sweat and oil come out. They may also be referred to as oil pores or oil follicles. Their main function is to keep the skin supple and healthy by helping natural oils to reach the surface of the skin.
When we talk of large or blocked pores, you are simply referring to the hair follicles whose main work is to allow sebum that is secreted by the sebaceous glands to reach the skin surface and lubricate the skin. Sebum is actually the natural oil that keeps your skin supple and healthy looking. Unfortunately, sometimes the process through which sebum is removed goes awry and results to excess secretion of sebum and other skin disorders. This is when you will notice blemishes and sometimes acne. The disorder varies from one person to another. Some develop severe complications than others while others only develop mild conditions that are easy to treat from home.
Pores can also get blocked and make it hard for the skin to release toxins. Though this condition may not result to acne or discomfort; it should not be left untreated. The best thing to do to put enlarged pores at bay is to drink a lot of water. Preferably 8 to 10 glasses daily. This amount of water in your body will keep you always dehydrated and will also help the skin to flush out toxins through sweat.
If you already have enlarged pores, then do not worry. You can still shrink them and restore the baby skin you once had. The process may take long so you need to be patient while you wait for the results. You have to use an alcohol free tone every day, topical acne medication at night and clay mask twice a week. This may sound as demanding at first but it is the best home remedy solution anyone can use with minimal or no side effects at all. What is even better, the process will be fastened with regular water therapy. Note that 8 glasses of water a day is only the standard amount required for the average Joe. You can always drink more but not in excess. The most you can take in order to remain healthy is just 3 liters of water a day.
Tomato or the egg white mixture is yet another perfect home remedy solution for enlarged pores. Simply create a pulp from the tomato fruit after removing its juice seeds and then apply it on the affected area. As of the egg white mixture, take half a teaspoon of lemon juice and mix it thoroughly with the egg white till you get some form of a gel. Then apply the lather on your face and leave it to dry or at least till you begin to feel the lather tightening. Then rinse off the lather with cold water, which will then tighten the pores.
Lastly, it is never a wise idea to treat skin disorders blindly. Consult a dermatologist first then use a home remedy solution that he or she approves. Ask him or her questions about pore definition and how well you can put your condition under control.
