Comedones

Comedones are tiny dark bumps that give the skin a rough texture and an unpleasant look.  They are caused by some form of abnormal desquamation of follicular epitheliums which makes the pilosebaceous gland to be blocked. This problem is common in young adults and adolescents but sometimes even adults can be victims of the same. Fortunately, the problem can be easily treated from home when it is not advanced or severe.

Both black heads and white heads are referred to by dermatologists as Comedones. You should not therefore be confused with the term Comedones. When it comes to their treatment, natural treatment is the best. It should however be noted that treating comedonal acne is a slow but sure process that requires patience more than anything else. Another thing which you have to keep in mind is that failure to follow the treatment prompts may leave you with acne scars that may need professional treatment. One of the most effective home treatments for both mild and moderate acne is the use of steam. This can be done through a steam bath or a steam facial.  However, if the condition is serious, then you should continue with care as this form of treatment can worsen the condition.

This form of treatment, works easily. Acne is a bacterial infection that brings about inflammation when the bacteria   are trapped in the blocked pores of the skin. Therefore using facial steam or just a team bath opens up the blocked pores and flushes out the bacteria. What is even better, this form of natural treatment improves blood circulation. It thus brings oxygenated and nutrient rich blood to feed your skin surface.

For best results, take a steam bath or have a facial steam treatment regularly. Ten make sure that immediately after the steam bath; you wash body or face thoroughly with soap and water. This is simply because, a thorough shower or bath after steaming will wash off all the bacteria, the excess oil and the dead skins that were flushed out during the steaming process.  Note that if this flushed out toxins are left on the skin surface after steaming, they may settle back into the skin pores and bring about further infections. Finally, for those who prefer the use of antibiotics, then they too have an option when it comes to treating comedonal acne. They may use topical antibiotics or azelaic acid to get rid of the acne Comedones. If the acne Comedones seem to be too stubborn, then consult your dermatologist. He or she will examine your condition and tailor a home therapy or approve a home treatment that suits your condition.
